Varanasi (ex Benares) et le Gange

Cette ville est le haut lieu de l'hindouisme.

The Ganges is viewed as a river of salvation, an everlasting symbol of hope to past, present and future generations.
.

The city is the beating heart of the Hindu Universe, a crossing place beteween the physical and spiritual worlds.
.
Pilgrims use one of the numerous bathing ghats (over 80 !) to wash away a lifetime of sins.
.

This is Manikarnika, the main "burning ghat". The city of Shiva is one of the holiest place in India where bodies are cremated in public.
